THE SILENT
EPIDEMIC
Q. What is
TBI?
A. Traumatic
Brain Injury
According to the CDC, at least 1.4 million Americans sustain a TBI
annually and at least 5.3 million Americans are living with a disability
resulting from a TBI.
In addition, each year 80,000 Americans experience the onset of long-term
disabilities as a result of TBI and each year, 50,000 Americans die from a TBI.
The cost of TBI in the U.S. is estimated to be $56.3 billion annually.
In fact, the annual incidence and prevalence of TBI is higher than

- Spinal Cord Injury +
- HIV/AIDS
combined.
Despite these staggering statistics, TBI remains the "silent epidemic" in
this country.
